Sunday 13 June - Remembrance March & Freedom Rally - Coaches leae from Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Slough at 10.30am

LINK TO THE 2-MINUTE PROMO ON THE SIKH CHANNEL IS BELOW:

SOME OF THE MESSAGES WE WANT TO GIVE
1) Sikhs throughout the world were outraged by the June 1984 Indian army assault on the Darbar Sahib Complex, where the Akaal Takht, Sikh Reference Library and historic artefacts were destroyed or damaged beyond repair.
2) To maximise casualties the unprecedented action using artillery and tanks was deliberately timed to coincide with the anniversary of the martyrdom of Guru Arjan Dev Ji.
3) There were huge numbers of pilgrims in attendance, which resulted in thousands of innocent Sikhs being killed in cold blood, many with their hands and feet bound, including women and children.

4) Over 125 other Gurdwaras, including forty historic Gurdwaras throughout Punjab were simultaneously attacked using massive fire power. Thousands of Sikhs were arrested, tortured, and killed, including children.

Please contact your local Gurdwara and join the many thousands of Sikhs in London on Sunday 13 June 2010 for the Remembrance March & Freedom Rally to remember those massacred in June 1984.
PLEASE FORWARD THIS INVITATION TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS ON FACEBOOK

Importance of Unity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Importance of Unity!

Guru Gobind Singh Sahib, the true King was staying in Anandpur Sahib. One day Guru Ji, told the Sevadaars to cook a lot of rice. When the rice was cooked they were piled in a heap, then Guru Ji asked the Singhs to bring some deer. The deer were brought and allowed to eat the rice from the pile. All the deer ate some rice each and went away. The Singhs asked Maharaj "what does this mean?" Maharaj told them he will explain it tomorrow. The next day Maharaj asked that a few dogs be brought to the same pile of rice. When the dogs were brought to the pile the first one took a mouthful and the dogs started fighting, the pile of rice was ruined (they were all over the place drowned in blood) and the dogs left injured and hungry. Maharaj was laughing at this scene.

Daya Singh asked: "Maharaj, what is this? Yesterday you fed rice to the deer and today to the dogs, what does this mean?

Maharaj Jee said: "Singhs I have given you instructions for the times to come. If you act like the deer in a united manner, you will find satisfaction and success, but if you fight like the dogs did, you will get bloodied and beat up and will not get anything"

All you youth fix up we might end up wasting our WHOLE life arguing !

Eye Witness Account of Vaisakhi

THERE IS A TALK ON 20TH APRIL (POSTER ATTACHED) ABOUT THE TRUTH, THE NEED FOR AMRIT, ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS.

Vaisakhi- The Truth and the importance of Amrit

What happened on the day of Vaisakhi? Some people spread many lies
such as that Dhan Dhan Sahib Sri Guroo Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj didn’t
actually cut the panj pyare’s heads off but took them into a tent and
cut a goat’s heads off. I ask you all a question. Was Dhan Dhan Sahib

Sri Guroo Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj a liar? Was he a con artist who
tried to trick people? NO HE WAS NOT!!!! Recently there has been much
discussion of whether this took place or not.

I found this eyewitness statement from the day Akaal Purakh’s Fauj was
created written by a spy sent by Aurangzeb to spy on the sikhs

THE LAST REPORT: Eye witness account of Vaisakhi 1699 by Enemy spy!

There were many in Guroo Gobind Singh Ji’s camp whose intentions
altogether were not loyal, the all knowing Guroo knew this. One of
these spies of emperor Aurangzeb was called Abu-ul-traifi. He is
mentioned by the eminent scholar Bhai Vir Singh in his writings. Being
a spy he kept a daily journal of the events that took place for the
emperor.

Below is the translation for the accounts of vaisakhi day:

“On the day Guroo Gobind Singh Ji prepared Amrit in Anandpur, the
attendance in the diwan was about 50 to 70 thousand. The Mughals had
four thrones (seats of imperial power), Delhi, Agra, Lahore and
Kalanur. But the grandeur of Guroo Ji’s throne was in a class by
itself. The grandeur of this throne was out of this world.

Guroo Ji came to the diwan and, unsheathing his sword, spoke in a
thundering voice that he needed a head. No questions or hesitation at
all, Bhai Daya Ram came forward to Guroo Ji. Guroo Ji right in front
of all cut of his head from his body in one stroke. Every body present
was stunned. Then Guroo Ji again thundered and demanded one more head.
Right on Guru’s call, Dharam Chand got up, came to Guroo Ji, bowed his
head and said here is my offering of my head. Guroo Ji again, in one
stroke cut off Bhai Dharam chands head from his body.

Now there was a big commotion in the diwan. But Guroo Ji in his
thundering voice went on demanding heads, one after another. Himmat
Rai, Mohkam Chand and Sahib Ram got up and offered their heads. Guroo
Ji cut off the heads of these three also. Many from the congregation
went to Guroo Ji’s mother and narrated the whole happening in the
diwan to Mata Ji.

Guroo Ji cleaned up the blood from the five bodies and heads, and even
washed the floor, then the Guroo of these infidels stitched one head
with another body, one by one, this process took about three hours.
Then he covered these dead bodies with white sheets.
The Guroo of these infidels then took a cauldron made from stone and
put an iron wok (bowl) without handles on top of it. He then poured
water into the wok and started preparing “Amrit” (aab-e-hyat- elixir
of life). The infidel Guroo kept churning the water with his double-
edged sword and kept on reciting his kalma (Gurbani). This process
went on for 1.5 to 2 hours. During this time a lady came from Guroo’s
house and put something in that water. Now the Amrit was ready.
From the corpses he took the covering sheets off. First he sat on the
head side of Daya Ram and poured Amrit into his mouth, then poured
some into his head and then sprinkled some in his eyes, and then he
asked the dead body to say waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh.
As if on his Guroo’s command, Daya Ram got up and repeated in his bold
voice, Waheguroo ji ka khalsa, waheguroo ji ki fateh.
It appeared that in the entire congregation everybody was so stunned
that it seemed like no one was breathing. There was pin-drop silence.
All the present were mesmerised with their Guroo’s miracle. In the
same manner one after another the Guroo made the other four alive too.
Then he took all five of them into a tent. After a while Guroo Ji
along with the five came out. The five were now wearing new attire
(uniform, bana); those five risen from the dead were standing in a
line. Then their Guroo came in front of them and took bir rasan
(posture of the brave-kneeling on one knee) and asked for Amrit. At
this point, the five asked what are you offering to get this Amrit.
The Guroo said that “I will sacrifice my whole family for the sake of
the panth” then these five gave Amrit to Guroo Ji, and his name was
changed to “Gobind Singh” (from Gobind Rai). The word Singh was
attached with the other fives too, -Daya Singh, Dharam Singh, Himmat
Singh, Mohkam Singh and Sahib Singh.
(I was very remorseful and cried like a baby) After that, thousands
took Amrit. Even, I was attracted like a magnetic force and with
no regret fell on Guroo’s feet. I requested to the Guroo to give
me Amrit too. Guroo Ji already knew about my role as a spy and
traitor, put his hand on my back, gave me Amrit and changed my name to
Ajmer Singh. Just with this act, my sins of numerous lives got washed
away.

a Sikh vs a Pathaan - Recorded By an Englishmen...

One on One Battle between a Singh and a fierce Pathaan

In the second world war, the Sikhs fought for the British and many Sikhs gave their lives fighting for them. Many Sikhs fought in Europe too and the Sikhs were recognized for their outstanding performance in the war. After the war was over, the Sikh regiments were brought back to India by road. As thus, they had to pass through Afghanistan and the present day Pakistan, to arrive in India.

When the Sikh regiment reached Jamraud (an area in Pakistan, close to the Afghanistan border, currently controlled by the Taliban), the Sikhs requested the officer in charge to stay at Jamraud as they wanted to visit the Gurdwara Sahib that stands there in the sweet memory of the legendary Sikh general - Sardar Hari Singh Nalwa. The officers agreed and the Sikhs stayed there for some days.

As the military had stationed in Jamraud, the Sikhs took liberty to visit the adjoining places. The residents of Jamraud did not know too much about the Sikhs and showed curiosity to know about them. One such person was the wife of a Pathan general Abdul Qiyoom Khan. She had not seen the Sikhs before and when she saw singhs with parkaash beards and well-built bodies, she asked her husband who they were.

Abdul Qiyoom Khan praised the Sikhs for their bravery just as a big-hearted warrior would praise another warrior. He told her about the background of the Sikhs and how they were known for their courage and strength.

The pathaans too are known for their bravery and if we read the history of Pusthuns (Pathans), we realize that they have fiercely maintained their independance. They are extremely brave and proud people. During the Mahabharata times, the area inhabited by the Pusthuns was known and Gandhaar and Duyoudhana's mother Gandhari was from this area. These people ruled India for many years and they were stopped by only one person and that person was Sardar Hari Singh Nalwa. Sardar jee reversed the flow of invasion from Punjab towards the West. For this reason, the old people of this area have respect for the Sikhs.

Coming back to the story, after hearing the stories of bravery of Sikhs, from her husband, the Pathaan lady jokingly said to her husband that the reason she married him was his bravery and that she did not know that the Sikhs were more brave than him. When the Pathaan heard such mocking from her wife, he got hurt and his ego was severely wounded. Just as a wife cannot tolerate the description of beauty of another woman from her husband, same way a man cannot bear praise courage and strength of another man from his wife's mouth. He immediately shot back at his wife saying that he did realize that the Sikhs were brave but he did not mean to say that they are more brave than Pathaans. He said to his wife that he would prove it to her.

Saying this, the Abdul Qiyoom Khan (the Pathaan) immediately dashed towards the camping place of the Sikh regiment. He went to the officer in-charge and challenged the Sikhs for a one-on-one fight. Abdul Qiyoom Khan was a very accomplished warrior of his area and was the sardaar (leader) of the tribal army in his area. He stood close to 6 feet, 5 inches tall and had a huge muscular body.

When the Sikhs heard his challenge, they started thinking how to respond, since this happened so fast. When he challenged again, a Sikh soldier by the name of Kartar Singh accepted his challenge. Kartar Singh was not very tall in height but he had a well-built body. It was decided that the fight would take place the following day at such and such time.

The next day, Abdul Qiyoom Khan arrived a little early along with his supporters. When the time of the match came, Kartar Singh did not arrive on time. The Pathaans thought that he had ran away, out of fear of fighting Abdul Qiyoom Khan. They started mocking the Sikhs. This incident was recorded by the Englishman who acted as the referee in the competition. His name was M. Crafts.

Anyway, a Sikh soldier was dispatched to get Bhai Kartar Singh. When the soldier arrived at his tent, he found him standing in ardaas. Unaware of his surroundings, Kartar Singh was urging Siri Guru Gobind Singh jee Maharaj for strength and was humbly supplicating along the lines that he did not have any strength of his own and that he was relying on Him (Guru Sahib) alone. After the Ardaas was over, Bhai Kartar Singh arrived at the place of competition.

Most independent observers had thought that this match would not last more than 10 minutes and would result in the death and defeat of Sardar Kartar Singh. Both warriors were allowed to use any weapon they wanted and they both chose swords to fight. They both were very skilled in fighting. They both did vaars (attacks) on each other and very diligently saved the vaars of their opponent. They were attacking, defending and counter-attacking all at the same time. The Singh was fighting so well, that the pathaan who had thought of crushing him in minutes was taken aback by the fierce resistance posed by him.

After half an hour, when no one emerged as a clear winner, the competition was briefly stopped for about 10 minutes. The pathaan came to his side of the ring and drank grapes juice. The singh on the other hand only drank water and closed his eyes to thank Siri Guru Dasmesh jee for giving him strength and martial skill to face an opponent as strong as Abdul Qiyoom Khan.

When they came back after the second round, the pathaan got a little impatient and challenged Kartar Singh to try blocking his vaar (attack). When a person loses his cool in a battle or competition, he is bound to lose a little bit of focus and concentration. This is what happened to the pathaan. He did a mighty vaar on Kartar Singh who in turn very diligently stopped it and did a counter vaar, which resulted in the pathaan getting seriously injured, thus ending the competition in Kartar Singh’s favour.

After the competition Kartar Singh quietly left the place and while the Sikhs were celebrating he went to his tent to perform an ardaas of thanking Guru Sahib for his victory. The words on his lips were the same words that Siri Guru Gobind Singh jee had on His lips, when He won the battle of Bhangani:

BHAYEE JEET MERI, KIRPA KAAL TERI
(O Vaheguru, I attained victory because of your grace).

May Guru Sahib bless us with martial arts and humility to rely on Vaheguru for strength.

Gurbani Santhiya Classes

What is Santhiya?

Santhiya is the Correct pronunciation of Gurbani, taught in the manner of how our 10th King Siree Guroo Gobind Singh Jee wanted us to read and pronounce the Holy Shabadh.
The Sakhee Behind Gurbani Sanithya can be found here:
http://www.damdamitaksal.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2&Itemid=3
http://www.damdamitaksaal.org/

Each time we unintentionally mispronounce gurbanee, we are hurting our own father, we should ALL make an effort to come Gurbani Santhiya classes, no matter what age, group, belief, agenda, its our duty to learn Shud Uchaaran (correct pronunciation).

Gurbani Santhiya Classes in Slough are taught by Students of Dam Dami Taksaal (Bhindran-Mehta), who themselves have had Santhiya from Ustaads such as Ustaad Bhai Charanjeet Singh Jee, Ustaad Gyaanee Pritam Singh Jee "Likharee" and other Ustaads of Guroo Sahibs own University...

In a day and age, when people are "self teaching", learning in other manners, or not learning gurmukhee at all, (instead just knowing basic punjabi and become granthees, and parchaaraks - preachers) one thing that struck me when said was:
"You no if your having Santhiya correctly and how Guroo Sahib wanted you too, if you can link your teacher all the way back to Baba Deep Singh Jee, Bhai Mani Singh Jee and our own Father, Dhan Siree Guroo Gobind Singh Jee"

Gurbani Santhiya is Taught on
Thursdays - 7:00 - 8:00
Saturdays - 6:00 - 8:00
Singh Sabha Slough (Back Hall)

Maharaaj Jee wrote Gurbanee in Larreevaar...here is a hath-likhath (handwritten) Saroop of Siree Guroo Granth Sahib Jee Maharaaj, its currently @ the British Libary, Dated 1859. Santhiya is the Key to read Gurbanee in its orginal roop.
